Robert Kiyosaki warns the ‘global economy is crashing'

In an early July 22 X post, the famous writer of the ‘Rich Dad Poor Dad’ personal finance book, Robert Kiyosaki, reiterated his long-standing stance that the ‘global economy is crashing.’

Specifically, the author harkened to one of his other works – the ‘Rich Dad’s Prophecy’ – by claiming that the prediction he made there is already playing out within the book.

Kiyosaki famously argued that pension funds are inherently flawed and that, once the first of the Baby Boomers turn 70 in 2016, the global economy would begin to crumble.

Though large parts of the global economy are, arguably, no longer adequate in providing a dignified living, the U.S. stock market, as viewed through the lens of the S&P 500 benchmark index, is up 246.67% since 2016.

Still, Kiyosaki is not the only prominent individual in finance to foresee trouble from Baby Boomers turning into net sellers as they age, though the legendary ‘Big Short’ trader Michael Burry identified 2028 as the likely starting year for the related crisis.

Elsewhere, the ‘Rich Dad Poor Dad’ writer also opined that those who read his ‘prophetic’ book are the ones who are doing ‘OK today.’

Simultaneously, he reminded his followers that ‘it’s not too late to make changes now’ and that he’d prefer his readers be among those who grow rich during the crash rather than be in the majority that will get ‘wiped out.’

In terms of the mechanism for building and preserving wealth, Kiyosaki urged the creation of an ‘ark’ in his ‘Rich Dad’s Prophecy,’ and, though he appears to have remained in favor of investing in cash-generating business and other vehicles, the rest of his approach arguably changed.

Indeed, the personal finance writer has been rather consistent in recent years in advocating for buying two notable cryptocurrencies – Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) – and two popular commodities – Gold and Silver.

Barring purchases made during the early 2026 extremes, investing in either of the precious metals at essentially any time in the ongoing century would have been a bet with significant profits.

Bitcoin and Ethereum, on the other hand, are somewhat more contentious, and the recent volatility means that they have, so far, proven to be stellar holdings only for investors who have bought them before the COVID-related bull cycle or the subsequent ‘crypto winter’.

For example, a $1,000 investment made in gold five years ago would have led to a position worth $2,282.50. An equal BTC trade would have turned into $2,049. Lastly, $1,000 put into the S&P 500 in mid-2021 would have – despite Kiyosaki’s declared crash – become $1,733.80.
