XRP Ledger hits major milestone as security flaw is revealed

Even though the XRP Ledger (XRPL) faced its worst inflation nightmare in over a decade, through a security flaw that would have allowed attackers to print unlimited tokens, the network has hit a major milestone backed by top institutional investors.
As of October 12, 2026, XRPL has processed 107,604,219 ledgers, according to data Finbold fetched from XRPSCAN.

Over the past 30 days, the XRP Ledger recorded 66,399,887 transactions. During the same period, the XRPL activated 113,677 accounts, thereby increasing the total to 8,645,237 as of October 11, based on metrics from CryptoQuant.

AI exposes critical XRP Ledger bug
An autonomous AI security agent built by Veria Labs, alongside researcher Cayden Liao, discovered a severe, decade-old bug in the XRP Ledger that human auditors had missed since 2015, and earned $250,000.
Specifically, this AI Agent proved that a single complex transaction could trigger an overflow in the payment engine, hence allowing anyone to bypass security checks and print unlimited and unauthorized XRP tokens out of thin air.
However, the XRP Ledger Foundation has reassured the crypto community that the network’s credibility was never compromised. Furthermore, this foundation argued that all XRPL’s data is public.
“XRP’s supply was fixed at 100 billion when the XRP Ledger launched, and no transaction is allowed to create more. This bug was a way around that rule, and 3.4.1 fixed it 2 weeks ago,” the XRP Ledger Foundation noted.
XRP price performance
Over the past month, XRP price gained approximately 2.07%, trading at roughly $1.40 at the time of writing. During the past 24 hours, the token’s trading volume surged by over 88% to $1.55 billion at the time of reporting, as per updates from CoinMarketCap.
