BlackRock attracted more than $500 million into its U.S. cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds (ETFs) on Monday, September 21, as institutional demand for digital assets accelerated alongside a sharp rally in Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH).

Notably, BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) recorded $381.4 million in net inflows during the session.

At the same time, its Ethereum-focused products, the iShares Ethereum Trust (ETHA) and iShares Staked Ethereum Trust (ETHB), attracted $110.1 million and $12.8 million, respectively. Together, the three funds brought in a combined $504.3 million in a single day.

Across the broader market, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $999 million in net inflows on September 21, while spot Ethereum ETFs added another $270 million. Combined, the two categories attracted approximately $1.27 billion in fresh capital.

IBIT accounted for roughly 38% of all Bitcoin ETF inflows, while BlackRock’s ETHA and ETHB represented about 45.5% of total Ethereum ETF inflows for the day.

The buying was broad-based across issuers. Fidelity, ARK Invest, Grayscale, and several other ETF providers also reported positive flows, with no major Bitcoin or Ethereum ETF recording significant outflows during the session.

Crypto market strong rally

The surge in ETF inflows coincided with a strong rally across the cryptocurrency market. Bitcoin climbed above $86,000 during Monday’s session, reaching its highest level since January as investors returned to risk assets and institutional demand strengthened.

Monday’s inflow was the ninth-largest since U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs launched in January 2024. The gains also extended a three-day inflow streak, the first in two weeks, signaling continued institutional demand despite recent headwinds, including the failed Senate cloture vote on the Clarity Act and a Federal Reserve rate hike.

Month-to-date inflows have now reached $1.31 billion, following August’s $3.52 billion, pointing to sustained investor interest despite broader macroeconomic concerns.

Despite the short-term momentum, spot Bitcoin ETFs remain down about $450 million on a year-to-date basis.
