XRP futures volumes surges to a 6-month high

Although XRP price has faced a strong resistance level near $1.53 as of October 6, 2026, its futures trading volume on major cryptocurrency exchanges has surged to a six-month high, which could bolster the token’s recently established bullish sentiment.
In September, the XRP futures monthly trading volume rallied to nearly $60 billion, the highest level since April this year, as per on-chain analysis from CryptoQuant.

The XRP futures have gradually rebounded over the three months, powered by the top three crypto exchanges: Binance, Bybit, and OKX. Specifically, this token’s September futures trading volume on Binance, Bybit, and OKX was $32.36 billion, $12.5 billion, and $11.32 billion, respectively.
The sustained upward XRP price momentum, up over 43% in the third quarter of 2026, attracted leveraged momentum traders and breakout buyers back to derivatives.
As such, this increased market liquidity and rising futures activity leave this crypto asset well positioned for high volatility, creating prime conditions for a short squeeze if price gains force over-leveraged short sellers to rapidly cover their positions.
XRP price performance amid rising futures trading volume
XRP price has climbed by more than 12% over the past 6 months, thereby pushing its market capitalization to $95.5 billion at the time of writing. During the past 24 hours, the token’s reported trading volume was down 8.1% to $1.86 billion, according to metrics from CoinMarketCap.

At the time of publication, a total of $2.83 million had been liquidated in the XRP market over the last 24 hours, as per data from CoinGlass. As such, in this case, roughly $2.05 million involved long traders, while $766,080 was in short liquidations.
Consequently, rising XRP futures activity acts as a key driver of market momentum, signaling renewed trader positioning that can fuel further upside through increased liquidity and potential short squeezes.
